Karatu Simba Lodge
Location:
Located outside Karatu town, adjacent to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area Forest in Rhotia, and midway between Lake Manyara National Park and Lodu are gate into the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Karatu Simba Lodge only 30 minutes drive to each of these game viewing locations. With its Iraqw tribe neighbourhood and farmland setting, Karatu Simba offers a slice of life only to be found in rural Tanzania.
Accommodation:
Set on a pastoral farmland, Karatu Simba Lodge boasts 13 guest accommodation tents, styled in rondavels or cottages with wooden floor, solid attached bathroom with shower, and a private deck with safari chairs. All the rooms are tastefully and simply furnished with hand made furniture of African hardwood, including double and twin-beds with mosquito netting, bedside tables, and a writing desk.
Facilities:
The uniquely designed main building with its open atrium, houses the reception, bar, lounge, and the dining area serving farm-fresh food and delicious fresh roasted coffee from the neighbouring plantations. Other facilities include a swimming pool with sun-deck, evening campsite, laundry, and free WiFi. Activities at the lodge include village walks and visits to local markets, offering a great opportunity for visitors to experience a little more of local life. Karatu Simba is a sister lodge to Serengeti Simba Lodge located in Ikoma, on the border with Serengeti National Park.
